I gathered inspiration for this visual manifesto from Pinterest, Jessica Walsh’s instagram, the Bosnia (Divided) poster by Cedomir Kostovic and the general idea of mixing weird stuff with good messages. I’ve been very interested in color popping art direction and wanted to try it out myself. I began my manifesto by making a list of phrases I motivate myself with, causes and people I support and random other tidbits that mold who I am as a person and a designer. Combining hand lettering with unique objects, I created a visual representation of my core values.
Pursue your passion
I promise to mold my career around my lifestyle and always appreciate that I get to do what I love every day
Respect the process
Good design involves putting hard work and time into every step, it’s the only way to have the best possible outcome.
Compete with yourself
I promise to prove myself to myself, not other students or designers and to never stop until I’m proud.
Recycle
Recycle bottles and recycle ideas but always put a new spin on things.
Play with your food
Good design is about thinking outside of the box. Maintain your sense of humor and don’t take things too seriously.
Stay up late & wake up early
Coffee is your friend, make the most of your time.
Work > Hope
I promise to never hope for something more than I work for it.
Fail
Don’t be afraid to fail. Good design is failing over and over and over again and seeing is at progress not defeat.
Girl power
Always support a girl boss and eventually become one.
Always over-deliver
Good design is doing more than what’s asked. The extra mile is never crowded.
Shake the World
Volunteer or donate but always do what you can to impact the world on an international level.
