I decided to choose my least favourite character and 'bring him to life' nicely and properly, despite 'personal differences'. In the end however, I shall not lie, I grew attached to him (let's call it a Frankensteinian syndrome). The common thread for Ivan Nikolayevich was that he was, if we collect several most defining adjectives, 'sun-reddened...dark-gold…tea-colored'. That warmth and tea-hues influenced the palette considerably. The face type is broad, with full-lips; a mix between a sensual spoiled tsarevich and strong stalwart bogatyr. In addition to the period photographs, a few Soviet World War II - themed films proved to be of considerable inspiration. Special gratitude goes to 'В бой идут одни «старики»/ Only 'Old Men' Are Going to Battle' (not only for the bits of visual tips, but for the mood-setting ballads as well).
