Creating a logo for a company,
whose name itself stands for a graphic symbol, was a special and delightful experience.
“Alatyr” – is an octagram, eight-pointed star. This ancient symbol can be found in the arts and crafts of many Slavic northern cultures. It often appears in Russian, Karelian, Mordovian, Chuvash, Udmurt ornaments – this is one of the most traditional and popular patterns for knitting and embroidery. Alatyr is featured on the coats of arms and flags of many Russian cities as a heraldic symbol.
“Alatyr” Industrial Company” produces equipment for metallurgy and the oil and gas industry. This is a classic heavy industry, represented by metal, fire, strength and power. To reflect this, we opted for a combo of deep black and red-copper metallic. Despite it's folk origin, symbol of alatyr has blended with the industrial theme surprisingly well: it looks quite balanced and technologically advanced.
The client asked us to create a corporate insignia “in the old Russian style.”
That's exactly what we did – the logo is inspired by traditional Russian letters of XV-XVII cc.
