This is a 500 foot long ice grotto that is hewn into the heart of the glacier. The ceiling is full of ice blue ice crystals.The cave's long walkway branches out in several directions and descends 65 feet below the surface of the glacier. The hazy atmosphere is the result of tiny air pockets in the ice. The blue color is caused by the refraction of light. Exploring the glacier cave was a "cool" experience. The temperature inside the cave never exceeds 29 degrees F.
