The Anderson Scouts: Merit Badge KickStarter

Looking for adventure, comedy, and romance? Do you love symmetry, limited palettes, and slow-motion walking shots? Are you quirky, with an appreciation for 1960s aesthetics and the font Futura? Join The Anderson Scouts of America!

WHY: For five years I have participated in Spoke Art Gallery’s famous Wes Anderson tribute show, “Bad Dads” and this year I wanted to challenge myself and bring something totally different to the show.
WHAT: I have designed 25 merit badges that represent classic scouting goals and qualities as seen through the lens of a Wes Anderson film. There are four sets of 6 badges, each based on an individual film. Two sets are current available via this Kickstarter - The Aquatic Scout set (based on The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) and The Hospitality Scout set (based on The Grand Budapest Hotel), as well as some other goodies.
HOW: I have contracted a company here in the US to help me create these limited edition, custom embroidered badges, but the price of doing something right is rarely cheap. I have never worked in this medium before, nor engaged in a project with this kind of scope. In order to embroider and package the badges as I envision them I hope to enlist the help of future Anderson Scouts!

WHEN: This year’s “Bad Dads” opens in November in New York City. Should this KickStarter meet its goal, I intend to deliver backer rewards by or before the opening of the show.

EXTRAS: I have also created a special insignia for The Anderson Scouts, as well as several fun items for those feeling extra scout-y. I have more sets to reveal, as well as special stretch goal items to unlock should we exceed our initial funding goal.

Take a look at our rewards and thanks for considering joining The Anderson Scouts!
