Vietnamese Water Puppetry Theatre at Strand on the Green, London
The aim of this theatre project was to educate local school children about Vietnamese Water Puppetry through a practical puppet making lesson and a performance. My proposal featured a raft and a netted structure which rose and fell with the high and low tide, with the structure pulled taught at high tide for theatrical effect through the puppetry performance. The fishing net idea originated from the context of Strand on the Green as it used to be a fishing village and linked to the fishing imagery of the water puppetry scenes.
