SOUTHERN VIEW /
Alternate Home Studio is a re-imagining of my family's current home in central Mexico according to our present needs. It's a 138 square meters wooded house located on the exact same terrain as the actual house.
The diagonal plan across the terrain allows a linear distribution which provides much needed space for garden areas on both sides of the house.
The idea is to isolate the project from the rest of the neighborhood behind a wall and a layer of vegetation thus enhancing the feeling of privacy and calmness. A small studio is located on the second floor as a sole room devoted to inspiration.
The dynamics of the roofs comes from the needs to open the building itself to the surrounding gardens granting an intimate bond between the interiors and exteriors. The project is presented as a scale model 1:75, made out of painted illustration board.
