Sexual orientation is by birth not by choice. This simple logic fails to be understood by common people whenever the topic of being differently oriented comes in to discussion. We all are aware of the existence of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender, Queer, but nobody wants to accept them as part of the society. The conceptualization of the designs started with combining various symbols related to LGBTQ category, and coming out with modified or new motifs, which focussed on the existing perceptions of the common people on LGBTQ and how it should be perceived.
The man in black with the world behind refers to the entire world of so called “normal” people,and the hands are those of the so called “different people, i.e. the lgbtq, and the illustration talks about uplifting them and accepting them as they are.
The wrinkled face shows the hardships and insult an LGBT category person goes through in order to sustain in the society. His hairs are in the colours of the LGBT, with the tagline signifying everyone is equal in the eyes of humanity, and nobody should be labelled for their personal choices.
A mother's love is always selfless for her child. We are all children of God, and God loves us all irrespective of our religion, race, caste and gender. So all should have equal rights to live in the society with heads high up. The sketch here points out to the society that God (the mother giraffe) loves all equally. the baby giraffe represents the lgbt category, and hence is in lgbt colours.
This figure is a message asking the society to shed off its negative thoughts (hence black) about lgbtq and start accepting them (hence the colourful brain, with lgbtq colours). The colourful part of the brain has hidden words inscribed in the form of the brain folds, which relate to lgbt life. Some of them are acceptance, human, love, equality, different etc.
This entire design is derived from the character pictures from cards. The first topmost unit signifies bisexuals, hence the figure of a female on top with one male and one female with her, showing she has orientations for both. The 3 different figures below this signify lesbians, transgenders and gays respectively. The transgender figure is shown like the male at the bottom turned into a male with little female characteristics.
Here the girl represents the society, and the colourful rain is the lgbt category. The message here is asking the society to let go of the closure in their minds (represented by the umbrella), and accept the colours, i.e. accept the lgbt as normal human beings. Hence the tagline below suggesting life gets better when all humans, irrespective of all differences live together.
