New Year's Double 2015-2016

New Year's Double 5K, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon 2015-2016
An Active Joe N. Texas Race
For the first time ever the New Years Double featured an actual New Year's theme. Fireworks, party hats, and lots of bright colors were the focus of each individual design. We also went back to a smaller number of challenge plates. This time, runners had the option of winning a double 5K plate, a double full or half marathon plate, or a double double challenge plate which features all four medals from both days of racing.

Medals attach to the challenge plates via heavy duty magnets embedded in each plate and on the back of the medals. This shows the 5K plate, medals, and completed challenge plate.
Individual half marathon and marathon distance medals as well as the full challenge plate.
The Double Double Challenge Plate. Proof positive of how hardcore a runner you are.

Fun side note: I've run this race every year since it first started. Usually I'm so exhausted afterward that I leave without getting a picture with the race director. This time around I reduced my usual distance and stuck with the 5K's. Afterward I had so much energy I volunteered in the information booth, got to meet a few of the volunteers I'd seen at various Active Joe races over the years, and finally took a picture with race director extraordinaire, Libby J.
