Creative process

Kerala Dust is a Western-born music producer, who reached out to come up with a art direction that would underline the minimalism and artistry that is reflected throughout his work. Since this was my first collaboration with an artist, I had to fundamentally change my process and approach. I tried to identify myself with the artist by merging with his music and persona, trying to transform my observations into a complementary visual language.

Moodboard

Logo

The direction for the logotype was clear and straight to the point. A simplistic, everlasting concept that would work well in the print and digital spectrum.

Colors and typography

For the perfect balance and contrast I decided to go as simple as possible, resulting in a black & white color schema. I saw black as the representation of boldness and strength, while white creates the perfect counterpart expressing clarity and pureness embedded in his work.

Artwork

The message I tried to convey with the artwork was a simplistic representation of the merge between the visual and vocal emphasis of Keralas music. The result of the composition was a distorted representation of those two colliding worlds

Artwork

Below is my pick of the favourite design explorations that didn't
make it into the final proposal.
