Potsdam Data Rain visualizes the average rainfall in Potsdam from 1989 to 2016.
The object contains 10 plates of laser cut Plexiglas that carry the data. The plates are arranged in 3 year intervals to cover a longer period of time.
Each plate represents one year and covers the monthly rainfall values. Each line represents 6 liters rain per square meter.
The appearance depends on the viewers perspective and changes by moving around. The frontal view offers the average overall value. The single plates can be highlighted by pointing at them. We used leap motion to trigger that effect. This object was created during a three week workshop.
