Project Background
Flow – Minimalistic beauty crafted into a watch face for both square and round Android Wear devices. With an abstract take on time, Flow is a watch face designed to be bold yet minimal to give your device a unique style. Wear it as a complementary style piece or even as a daily accessory.
What started a small side project over the course of a few days quickly turned into a well polished wearable app that marks my first publication into the Google Play Store. Since, it has been featured by Google under the wearables section and received nearly 1000 installs.
Challenges
Flow was created just a few months after watch faces for Android Wear were opened up to developers. With this being both a new platform and my first Android app developed for public release, this combination presented a number of challenges.
It was also a unique perspective to play both the role of designer and developer with this side project. It was intriguing to think through how pieces would be technically accomplished while designing. From this project, I learned all about drawing to the Android canvas.
