Culinary College Campus
3rd Year Studio ~ C.Jones ~ 1/20-4/30/2012
2007 O.C. Haley Boulevard, New Orleans

This project is a gumbo ofdiscreet elements that aims to express the grittiness of creole cuisine and of the context as it stands now on the crux of its gentrification. Rather than beanother hermetically sealed building, the project tries to create a denselypacked campus where disorder and complexity can enter the cooking.
Teaching kitchens in modules of operable glazing aredeployed onto an exoskeleton of cor-ten steel and wrapped in layers of didacticservices and solar sails. This produces a more comfortable micro-climate intowhich a cantilevering deck, which constitutes the auditorium space, is slotted.
