‘Nostalgic Addiction’ is an illustration that narrates the emotional influence in vinyl designer toys, getting consumers to be frantically addicted to toy collecting.

 

Influenced by Takashi Murakami’s work, the playful swirls and colourful decorations on the bear reflects the illusion in every toy collector’s mind, the happiness and emotional remembrance of childhood these toys bring. Having the 2D illustration against the 3D background distinguish the world of reality and imagination of the buyer. This notion of buying new toys and collecting, allows the adult to escape from reality to become a kid again. Similar to the superflat movement, it reflects the mind of today’s consumers, being swayed by emotions and desires.
