Where is the world?

In the summer of 2011, civil war broke out in Syria, and as the violence escalated, millions of civilians fled their homes in search of safe haven. A small patch of desert on the border of Syria and Jordan has become home to over 120,000 Syrian refugees and is the size of a small city.
The children are scarred from the violence, both mentally and physically. Living on the equivilent of £20 a month the refugees are in squalid conditions, but they are resilient, proud and motivated people with hope of peace and prosperity.
This crisis has been broadcast like no other before it's time due to technology/ social media, and is at the front of the world stage for all to see.
Withi this in mind, and when we are in such a strong position we must ask;
Where is the world?
