18 elements for a closed container bookcase. Chestnut wood. Each and every element was assembled through an interlocking system, without using any screws, nails or glue.
A cloud of boxes, changing and faceted like the side of a fish because of the metal brushed surface of the doors.
This project was thought to meet the customer need of having a closed container element intended to be not volumetrically invasive.
The bookcase was thought to be set on a white wall in a stylish house in the very centre of Torino (italy). Stucco everywhere, and a wooden floor that i couldn't hide.
The room was not so big and i had to let the light pass through this space.
'Modularity' was the first thing i thought; the second was 'natural materials' ,for better matching with the floor and other furniture. The third was 'metal', for catching the light and reflecting it all over the room.
I wanted to match together ancient skills in woodworks and new technologies, applied to a design project.
The value is in its intrinsic beauty. The bookcase is huge but light and touching it you can feel the passion for materials and the love for the details.
