The visual medium - be it still or moving - holds tremendous power to change societal attitudes for a plethora of issues. We as a society suffer from an obsessive compulsive disorder when it comes to labeling people into categories. what is good or bad is then decided by the majority. and more often than not, the voices of the minority get lost somewhere in the dark.Ishaqnaama: Love in the time of 377 aims to highlight and celebrate the queer identity that is so often a cause of disapproval and social outcastism in India. The photo series will feature the conceptual portraitures of LGBT Couples who are also Indian, who have managed to put all taunts aside and dared to live their lives truthfully. In the interminable shadow of conservatism, the photos will be used to challenge existing ideas about the impossibility of same-sex love in India. Every exhibition will be critiquing existing norms and ideas of what is Indian and what isn't.
