Emil and the Detectives by Erich Kastner
Before I started this project, I look at what's out there for Emil and the Detectives in terms whats already on the market, and these are some of the final ideas I had for the book cover.
From using the yellows that have been on the fornt cover to not havng colour or having a building on there as the from cover with the title and blurb.
This one was done by watercolours.
These were done on illustrator and then put into indesign for the final effect of putting on the logos for the book cover.
Trying to work out, what would work for a book cover and what doesn't. Its very had to make something work for a book cover and trying to make things work. I find that printing off the final at work had helped me see whats work for the cover, what colours work and how to change what doesn't.
Even changng the colours of the background or the spine.
