Kids can create music, listen and communicate with friends through strumming, shouting and banging. It is a space of pure musical freedom. Our design explores reverberation and how this varies given the length of each pipe. Reverberation is dependent on the volume of a space and the acoustically absorbent quality of your chosen material, in our case PVC piping with primer lock and a gold finish.

Sound has a tendency to be rather intrusive, naturally we are intrigued when our personal space is invaded. Our pavilion invites the public in through an invasion of territory to investigate sound singly or collectively, whilst learning about the factors that determine pitch.

The pavilion is an open performance space, it is debatable whether the public are participants or performers. By blurring the threshold and undoing the hierarchy, it shifts the relationship between subject and object.
