Masthead:
Masthead “Minimo” is inspired by the word “minimal”, an idea came from “Minimalism” that seeks for revealing essential quality and conveying simplicity.
Magazine cover:
Geometric form on front cover is inspired by computer network, and composed of the essential element, that is, repetitive deep blue lines on white background; the lines are meticulously detailed and jointed together like a network, its theme is related to its feature article Designing Design capturing the impact of computer technology in design. Empty space created within geometrics plus use of ample white space above can evoke the essence of white space in graphic design captured in another feature article White Space. Back cover displays another geometric form, linked to that on front cover, leading viewer’s eyes to read across the covers.
Magazine layout:
To match the articles’ tone, layout of the first article White Space is more formal with more white space while the second article Designing Design looks more dynamic by adopting stepped columns to layout body text, and created three images of meticulously detailed lines jointed like a network including one image in two-page spread to evoke a spatial, chaotic and dynamic tone.
