The Blooming Tea Co.

Brief: To design packaging for three types of dried food of choice. The final packaging needs to be suitable for a Deli or small Grocer/Supermarket retailer. The dieline/knife for the product is to be designed out of card and the knife (die line) should beoriginal. The packaging should aim at being sustainable and cost effective.
The Blooming Tea Co.
Blooming teas are an exuberant experience; the hand-made tea ball transforms into fragrant, flowering displays. The packaging enhances the overall experience.  Absorbed with the senses, you are invited to feel and touch the coloured patterned fabric. Each tea is wrapped in a different patterned illustration and is tied together inspired by the Japanese wrapping style, furoshiki. Undoing the ties of the fabric, the box inside slowly unravels much like a blooming flower, and you are invited to the intense fragrance of the natural tea balls. Simple instructions are illustrated inside the box.

The furoshiki style wrapping connects to the eastern roots of tea making and encircles the hand-made touch of the blooming teas. Black brush lettering used in the logo and inside the box also hints at eastern calligraphy. Patterns and the instructional illustrations are also visibly hand-generated.

The fabric patterns can be printed from a continuous long roll; no two boxes will ever be the same. The box is kept small but sufficient to hold the tea in order to lessen paper wastage.
