For a 'small, ingenious machine' project
This brief was to produce a small, clever machine to perform a simple but arbitrary task. It also had to create linear motion from rotary.
I have included a video of it functioning. The brief restricted the
power of the motor so the prototype did not yield much cheese but it was a full
success in proving the concept and received high marks.
We individually came up with concepts and as a group chose one to develop and prototype. My design was chosen so the automatic cheese grater was detailed and I modelled the device on Solidworks to make it production ready. Technical drawings were produced (example shown) for us to build a working prototype. Net parts were laser cut and then bent to shape under heat.
