Vertigo Magazine is a student-run publication at the University of Technology, Sydney. Throughout 2016 I worked as a designer, alongside a team of editors and a design team comprised of two creative directors (Kimberly Luo and Wendy San) and three designers (Jordan Evans, Megan Wong and Rekha Dhanaram). We released six volumes over the course of the year, each 100 pages long and produced entirely by students. The design role involved designing a masthead and style guide, designing the layout, typography and typesetting of all magazine spreads, contacting and organising external student contributors for imagery and delegating relevant tasks, creating imagery and visual content appropriate to the written content and theme, collaborating with a team of designers and editors, and liaising with printers. The role required effective communication with the editorial team and strong organisational skills to meet challenging deadlines.
