Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign

Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign
Visual Communication System
This project was a visual communication system that aimed to bring awareness about the issue of human trafficking. Through research it was discovered that, to truly bring about change, two audiences needed to understand the roles they played in the human trafficking industry, victims and users (aka "johns"). Two campaigns were developed to bring awareness to each of these audiences.

The Victim Campaign, focused on bringing awareness to girls between the ages of 8 and 16 who are at the highest risk of being exploited. The poster series would be placed in tween and teen shopping environments specifically targeted to them. Stores like Justice, Abercrombie and Fitch and Forever 21 would use shopping bags and in store graphics to bring awareness to the risk. The series would help them understand the seriousness of the issue and that it effects people just like them.

The User Campaign focused on bringing awareness to the users of prostitution. The series emphasizes the role johns play in the victimization of women and children and that most don't choose the lifestyle of a prostitute. The campaign posters would be placed in coffee shops and luxury shops that affluent businessmen frequent (based on research most users are well educated, working men.) The series would remind users on a daily basis that what they are doing effects other people.
