Welcome to the Firefly adventure!
Firefly Music Festival is a music festival produced by Red Frog Events, that was first held on July 20–22, 2012, in Dover, Delaware. The festival takes place in The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway, an 105-acre festival ground, over the span of four days. Many nationally known musical acts performed at the festival, with 48 performances held over the course of the festival in 2012, 71 bands in 2013, and 95 bands scheduled to perform in 2014. The festival is produced by Red Frog Events, with the hopes of having "an open-air festival on the East Coast with plenty of outdoor camping, much like the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee". Firefly Music Festival's tag line is "The East Coast's Premier Music Experience." For the festival, The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway includes seven stages, named The Porch Stage, The Lawn Stage, The Backyard Stage, the Big Break Stage, The Forest Stage, and The Firefly Stage. There are many different passes options, as well as payment plans, to be as accommodating as possible. Now what?
The point of this project was to change the image of the festival to a more trendy look but without taking the bohemian sense of it. Knowing this I decided to learn everything about the festival, and to start from the original colours, which I thought they were perfect. I had to take the original logo and make it different but recognizable.
Where's the firefly?
A festival called Firefly must have a firefly somewhere, so I decided to add a little steampunk inspired firefly to the logo. Also the old logo was just text, so the best way to make a difference was to add a icon or illustration like this one.
Fun part
With the logo ready to be used, I started to design the rest of the material. The first thing I did was the poster, a powerful image, with three animals shouting their favourite bands. Great.
