"King of Spain" Opening Title Sequence

Having a background in television production, I always envisioned myself using what I learned here at RISD back home in Los Angeles for TV and film applications. My scope of the design industry has since broadened and so too have my aspirations within it, but for this self-initiated piece in my Final Portfolio Review Studio I chose to create an opening title sequence for a TV show.

The fictional television show is titled King of Spain. The log-line for the series is: A college student from Alaska moves to Spain to study abroad and finds out learning much more about himself and the world outside of the classroom. This is a fish out of water/coming of age tale about a sheltered kid bursting out of his shell in a country where he could find and/or completely reinvent himself. This story guided my process and allowed me to conceptualize. I wanted the visual language to denote two worlds coming together, movement, and development. This project was really enjoyable to work on and allowed me to get a little technical by blending graphic design with animation and music editing. I look forward to applying motion and animation to my design work from here on out whether it be part of process explorations or in the presentation of a finished product to a client.
