FINAL LOGO
THE SYMBOL · why a dog?
Part of the brief was to design a unique symbol, something that they could use on labels, boxes, t-shirts, and that would differentiate them immediately. In one of those standard briefing questions they answered that if the brand was an animal, it would be a french bulldog. That did it for us, and they pretty much fell in love with it.
It is independent from the wordmark and can be used in a variety of ways.

ORIGIN OF THE NAME
–––
The brand name came from the Norway town Voss. It sits in a place surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes and rivers. It is a center for skiing, water sports, skydiving, paragliding and other adventure sports, asides from hosting the Ekstremsportveko, the extreme sports festival. Its rivers provide various levels of white water, attracting canoeing, rafting and river boarding. Kite-surfing and bungee jumping are practiced in Vangsvatnet lake.
According to Voss' history, Vǫrr would have been Lake Vangsvatnet's name. If this is the case, the name is probably derived from the word vǫrr in old norse, which means wave or sea.
