What is the best way to talk about food with 3-to-13 year olds? Probably – by telling an inspiring story led by a cheerful character. That is why a funny looking guy called Seven-handed was born and found his place in a VMG’s book for kids. He is a main character and a narrator in 7 Ingredients For Kids.

Together with his 7 friends Seven-handed is participating in all the activities arranged through the whole book and gives advices for the little readers. That is an attractive way for them to discover healthy eating tips which are easy to follow and advices on nutrition and creative food making throughout the book.

The task of “7 Ingredients For Kids” book is to inspire children to make food and teach sparkle their creativity in the kitchen. It teaches them to recognise different kitchenware and tableware, also ingredients, which are important in preparing healthy and tasty food. Therefore, the most of these above-mentioned things were depicted in the book. Drawings were accompanied by specially made minimalist photographies. These exclusive illustrations are the essential parts of this design concept.

To make the book more visual informative, picturesque images of the fruits, vegetables and berries were illustrated in their natural terrain. It made the information easy to follow and memorize for the kids. It was done for the same purpose of fluent and fun learning experience in drawn step-by-step cooking guides as well.

Parents can easily track the progress of their children education. The learning to make food is presented in a form of a game – kids can use stickers to mark every implemented recipe. To make the studying even more easier for them, shapes for cookies, stencils for pies and stickers were added.

This book offers not only healthy and tasty recipes or cooking techniques – more so it's a first ever attempt to design means for educating kids about dietary habits and creativity in a visually coherent, easily understandable approach.
