The Backstory
After the Loma Prieta Earthquake of 89’, the Bay Area witnessed some strange events happening. Amongst them was the discovery of an 18 inch Bridge Troll, on the eastern span of the Bay Bridge. How did it get there? Nobody knows, but one thing is for sure, its there to stay and serve as the protector of the bridge. Twenty four years later, its creator came out of hiding. Bill Roan who is faculty at CSUEB was the troll’s creator and graciously let me photograph him for my class project.
The premises of the project was to create editorial spreads on a career or trade. I chose mine’s on blacksmithing and focused the story around the Bay Bridge Troll and the creative process behind it.
