SMP II - Impression/Expression

Impression/Expression
The  Manipulation and Distortion of Space
Everyone has a place important to them that has a specific memory, an intimate experience, associated with that place. Over time our experiences and understanding of these places distills into what we perceive as the essence of the place. I aimed to take impressions and experiences of places that hold importance for me and express these essences through photographs. These photographs manipulate the space and take away descriptive elements, leaving the viewer with a minimal image of my expression of the space. The importance of these images lies not in recognition of the space, but rather in the viewer forming their own experiences and connections with the portrayal of the space.
