Interaction Design for EloView

We decided to build the functionality of EloView around the 'drag-and-drop' interaction. It is a very simple interaction with which virtually everyone is familiar. The following interaction video demonstrates a predictable means of picking up an asset (click and hold), a direct link with the pointing device (asset must follow exact movements of mouse or finger), and a clear depiction of where the asset will be dropped (creating a 'hover' element that appeared as soon as the asset was within a droppable area.) This video is what I sent to developers to highlight those three necessary components.
When certain features are particularly difficult to explain in an email, it helps greatly to create an interaction video to show exactly how the feature will work. This 'expand/collapse' feature was created for that exact reason.
Given that EloView was heavily enterprise centric, we knew that users would have accounts with a large number of devices. In order to maintain quick page load times, we needed to create a way to paginate the device list without requiring the user to click through dozens of pages. We always encouraged users to utilize the 'search' feature, but for those that chose to scroll through their list, this method allowed us to have quick page load times without creating a clunky user experience.
