Last Lesson

Contemporary Photography - High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR) and Collaging
Reflection

Today is official is the last lesson of CRIC. Sadly, it has come to an end but I am really grateful and joyful that I have took up CRIC as my elective. I have gained so much from all the CRIC lesson in terms of different skill sets and different application of various media. Such as differing the shutter speed, iso and aperture to capture different kind of images.

And today’s lesson, we learnt how to create HDR and collaged photographs with really simple steps. It is incredible how when we manipulate our camera settings, we are able to achieve such extensive and sophisticated photographs. I especially likes HDR photographs. Taking photos at 3 different ISO values and merging them together will make the original image much more in depth. An eye opening session today as well, learning how to create a collage of people duplicating in a same photograph. In a nutshell, my photography abilities, art and creative direction for design have greatly increased. I hope that I can put them into good use for the upcoming CAs and future design works.
High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI)
In this photograph, I merged a total of 9 images of varied ISO value to create this transparent and fantasy like foreground.
As I was taking this set, my friends were walking and hence when I merge the set together, it created this 'motion-blur' effect.
Featuring Josilyn and Dahlia. After merging to HDR image, I edited the exposure and highlight to enhance the lighting and shadow cast on my talents.
By checking and unchecking certain photographs merged in the HDR setting actually alters the hue and saturation of the image output.
Collaging - Clone yourself
Featuring Dahlia. "The sun got me like~"

How to clone yourself?
Step 1: Set up camera on tripod at the venue you want to duplicate yourself. Make sure there is enough space to fool around.
Step 2: Adjust the shutter speed, ISO and aperture accordingly.
Step 3: Get your friend in the frame and take individual shots of them posing differently and at different spots. (Note that you should not let him or her pose/overlap at the same positions or places.)
Step 4: Open the images in Photoshop, using erase tool, cut and erase the your friend out on each layer/photograph. (Select your friend with marquee tool and right-click 'Layer via copy' for a faster result.)
Step 5: Admire your artpiece!

Brief

To capture sceneries in our daily lives that we often missed out due to our hectic lifestyle. To remind people that it is time to appreciate and admire the little things in life with the series you have created. Go to anywhere, preferrably neighbourhood so that it is more relevant to most of the Singaporeans. Note that you should use only the HDR method to touch up the photographs.
Experimental Process

I decided to explore another part of Singapore today to complete my created brief. And that is, Hougang! Yes, living here in Singapore for 19years, I have yet visited Hougang. (And many other places actually...) I realised that Hougang's HDBs are very pretty and the whole residential area is quite peaceful and clean.
Randomly looked up the building and found this pretty angle to shoot.
Walked around the neighbourhood and took some random cool shots.
Final - 'Daily Little Things'
"Yes! The bus is coming."
We all know that jubilee feeling when you are waiting in a scorching hot weather and your bus is finally here.
"Jiang Jun!"

When is the last time you played the chess game?
"DANGER - KEEP OUT"

Do you bother to listen to these signages?

I find it so amusing that they have to put so many safety signs in the same area. When I look at it, it seems like there is a man speaking to me in my mind telling me to keep out multiple times. The amount of blue and white strips in this photograph is shockingly a lot.
"HDB Inception"

Fooled around with the HDR Pro setting in Photoshop and achieve a super surreal and cool result. Loving the light rays and the directions of it.
