I am doing some digital sketching experimentation. I’m wanting to get better at it, just so that I can do it. this was my first attempt at doing some digital portraiture. This is Romain Gall, the portrait has some structural issues, but overall, it is still somewhat successful personally. Especially because I don’t navigate this terrain very often. Also, there are brushes that I actually made as well.

On this one I wanted to experiment with lines. I drew out the portrait of Amro with permanent marker and then scanned the linework in, cleaned it up with some levels and channel layers in Photoshop. The Dramatic lines that are going across the portrait where from a picture of a grate. I loved the power expressed in the lines from that so I wanted to incorporate this into the picture. The colors chosen for this portrait were based on Egypt's flag, the place where Amro calls home.

Drawing Rodrigo Saravia, I had this idea to do a 2x2 idea, since I've been doing that quite a bit in my Instagram w/ Layout. Again, I decided to pull out some of the colors from Saravia's home country, Guatemala.

The portrait of Ethan Finlay was a great exercise with digital drawing. I put some time into making my own custom brushes to make sure that they made sense to the way that I work. I wanted brushes that were similar to my real life tools.
