2013 - Champagne Pouring Machine

Aim: To create a champagne pouring machine for a Christmas party at Massey University. The machine had to be able to pour champagne to customers as requested, be easy to operate and ensured that the champagne is bubbly when poured into glasses.

Solution: Remove the cork of the champagne bottle and replace it with a rubber bung. The rubber bung had two holes, one for allowing compressed air to flow in, and the other for the champagne to pour out. When compressed air entered the bottle, the champagne would pour out as a result of the increased pressure.

A turntable was designed to place the glasses onto to fill champagne. When a person placed their glass on the turntable, the glass rotated to the pouring nozzle and the champagne poured out a certain amount decided by the user. After pouring the turntable spun the glass back to the person who placed it.
