Disability doesn't equal Disabled

This logo was designed for a group of students that meet with the school counselor as a support group. The group is comprised of students that have siblings that have disabilities. The group meets to help with any concerns they may have, and to promote the idea that "disabilities do not equal disabled". They want to make sure their siblings are included in everyday activities that they enjoy, even if they do have a disability. There are ways to make accommodations for them to make sure they are involved and not left out.

The circles and ribbons represent the students/siblings and their arms around each other for support.

The mountain symbolizes strength of the students and their siblings.

The heart is symbolic of the love they have for each other.

The yellow was used for the circles and ribbons because it symbolizes happiness, positivity, enlightenment, and loyalty. Yellow, when used in banners (ribbons in this case) also symbolize a welcoming home of loved ones. Also, yellow is used in advertising when the target audience includes children.

The pink color represents love, affection, friendship, and tenderness.

The use of the color brown for the mountain was partly because it's a mountain... but mostly because of a quote about color meaning from www.bourncreative.com: "Brown is a stable and grounded color that is believed to help you feel like you fit in and belong". Certainly apropos.

The snow-capped mountain was an idea from dream interpretations; the idea that a snow-covered mountain in a dream is a good sign that a goal will be achieved and a dream will come true. In this case, the goal and dream is inclusion for siblings with a disability and an understanding that just because they may have a disability, it doesn't mean they are disabled and therefore unable to do anything.

Simple logo, but a lot of meaning behind it. Very proud that the counselor asked me to design this.
