This is a small part of a research task I completed which was to explore and reasearch contemporary and historical design movements. The focus was to create a well organised composition which was easy to understand but showed off the style of each design movement. My intention with this research page was to create an effective layout that successfully showed the style and technique developments that happened in each design movement. I think this composition is successful because it is well laid out and organised, however it still looks visually pleasing and isn't just overwhelming blocks of information.
This composition here is for a Post Modernism magazine article that I designed at the end of my Type and History Project, this is just the first page of the design. My focus for this composition was to make the typography, imagery and information on the page all relevant to the design movement I was writing about and I chose the most appropriate imagery that showed off the style and technqiues used at the time. My intention was to create a visually interesting magazine article, but one that linked to the movement and has appropraite information. I think this piece of work is successful because the typeface and imagery are work created during that era of design.
