DAY Studio — AVLU Collection '15
AVLU focuses on the product culture and the handcraft potential of Istanbul, especially focusing on the Grand Bazaar area. The aim is to start up a dialogue about the contemporary design language of our locality.
"We believe that Grand Bazaar is an important touchstone for the product culture in Istanbul because of its product variety and the visitor potential but most importantly the varied craft culture that it shelters for centuries. The project consists of a series of collaborations between the DAY Studio designers and the local craftsman. It is an on-going process of documentation of the existing local product and craft cultures, responding this information with a possible new approach in terms of design."
We produced conceptual photo-series of AVLU Collection when we first met Doğanberk and Yeşim- owners of DAY Studio. AVLU Collection was the senior project of Yeşim at first- but they carried the collection over in business afterwards, hence, creating DAY Studio.
We enhanced DAY Studio's art direction further, to make crisp & clear visuals by using different color palettes depending on the products we shot while using contrast and/or complementary tones.
