The idea of spontaneity, unconventional methods of painting and portrayal of complex thoughts through art fascinated me to take up Jackson Pollock as our artist for inspiration as part of a class assignment. For the design I took a voluminous tent dress to work on implicating the idea of “freedom” as was Pollock’s style who took the liberty to paint spontaneously and impulsively. When you look at a Pollock, your greatest pleasure should be rejoicing in art’s freedom. His words once when he was suggested to paint nature ,”I don’t paint nature. I am nature.” His paintings could be said as art at its more rawest form – it was, what we call, art for art’s sake making us rejoice the freedom of lines, intersection of colors and the beautiful dynamism.
