Voices: Emily Smith Meta-Narrative

Introduction

We were asked to create two narratives published using Adobe Voices titled, "My Creative Story" and another story of our choosing.  The first (Voices I) would tell your creative journey; where you are, how you got there and where you hope to go. In Voices II, we were free to tell a story of our own without boundaries.

Workflow

1. The first step was to decide what the story was going to be about. This was already chosen for Voices I, but for Voices II I had to brainstorm possible directions I could go. I thought the story should be relatable and play on common experiences, but be funny too. Then I remembered a particularly embarrassing moment from my past and thought that would be something peple would be interested in.

2. Next I needed to plan out what was going to be said and how I would tell the story.

Voices I supplied questions to prompt what kinds of things to include such as "What was your earliest memory of a creative accomplishment that you were proud of?

Voices II I had to write out all the details of what happened then refine to suit being spoken.

3. Using Adobe Voices on the iPad, I recorded the narratives.

I recorded one slide at a time, chosing visual elements to place on screen that aid the story. These could be a photo, an icon or text.

I also customized the theme of each narrative, changing elements such as background, font, colours and music.

Once finished recording and editing, I then shared my story on the adobe voices website by exporting the video and copying the link to my clipboard.

Then I copied the embed link from the adobe website to share in my projects on Behance.
Conclusion

To conclude, this experience of using Adobe Voices was an overall positive experience. I like how user-friendly the app is and how you are able to customize the theme and music to your project with ease. I had little to no difficulties when creating my narrative, the app uses interactive features such as the timeline where you can drag the slides to re-order for example. I found the icons provided extremely useful, they had a wide range of graphics that really helped support what was being said.

I think that both of my stories have been written so that the viewer's interest is held and they can relate/ empathize with these experiences. I think that both of my projects are successful narratives in the sense that they get to the point and are relatable to the viewer. To improve on this, I would work on the delivery of my speech when recording my voice; I need to slow down and annunciate my words more clearly.
