Pawsitively Perfect

Pawsitively Perfect is a conceptual company I created for my senior thesis at MIAD. The goal is not only to encourage dog adoption and rescue, but also to build the bond after adoption. In the research phase I found that there were a large amount of dogs being adopted and being returned to shelters within a few weeks.

Advertising Campaign
The target audience was initially people who weren't exactly looking for the information. So the ad campaign had to be attention capturing and memorable. Catchy, recognizable references to songs with a friendly typeface was the route I went with. Bright colors combined with a high contrast illustration of a dog with that "you just got home, I missed you!" face was another strategy I used to catch attention and interest.

Each dog is intended to be a mixed breed, encouraging the idea that a great dog does not necessarily need to be a well known pure bred. The posters also give a bit of information on different myths and misconceptions people have about shelter dogs, and why these myths are often not the case with the majority of rescue dogs.
Website
After encountering the advertisements, if you desire to learn more, the website gives more indepth information on the myths about shelter dogs and information to prepare. If you feel comfortable with the idea of adopting, you can connect with shelters in your area. And if not but you still want to help, you have the option to donate or to sponsor a shelter dog.

Adoption Kit
Once you adopt your dog, you also get the kit. This kit includes a "doggie bag" with one of the music quotes and dog portraits, a tennis ball, treats for training, and most importantly a Handbook to help prepare you for your life with your new dog.

In my research I was finding that a lot of dogs were being returned to shelters within a couple weeks of adoption. I looked into the reasons these dogs were being relinquished and it was often a result of behavioral issues stemming from smaller issues. So I compiled a book of ways to prepare for a new shelter dog and chapters on different problems you might encounter with a shelter dog and how to deal with those. It also encourages you to keep going and helps to build the bond.
