UMD Arboretum and Welcome Center
Arboretum and Botanical Garden Visitors Center, University of Maryland
The existing site for the future Arboretum and Botanical Garden Visitors Center on the University of Maryland campus has one small building formerly used as an apiary.  The site is located next to a large parking garage, campus dorms and a campus thoroughfare.

Project program is to site a two-story building that will function as a visitors center for the arboretum.  In addition to this,  I included two large terraces with permeable pavers and water retention and recycling systems below ground, which feed the two fountains adjacent to the terraces.  The existing building and vegetation were left intact and more was added for visual appeal, shade, and soil stabilization on a slope to the south.
