As part of the creative output for my honours dissertation project, I illustrated four poems in two different visual styles each to explore what influence the imagery has on the reader's understanding of the written text.This first visual interpretation of Crosbie Garstin's poem The Figurehead (translated into Afrikaans as 'Die Boegbeeld' by Magda van Biljon) featured narrative illustrations resulting in a children's book format. The illustrations were created using gouache.
