Information visualization poster for use by aspiring students
The objective is to visualize an empowering process, to give people an idea of the task flow that they need to follow in the given process. For my example, I took the process of availing scholarships for courses in US universities, which is something most graduate students in India aspire to do so in order to realize their dreams of pursuing a Masters degree abroad.
The challenge is to come up with a poster which is understood and utilized effectively by the reader, using a variety of design aspects to impart the message and intent of the poster.
The first iteration shows the basic steps for applying for scholarship, taking the form of a '$' sign as a metaphor for US currency. While it is attractive and eye-catching, and has key words emphasized to summarize each individual step, it does not make for great utilization by the reader and will need to be referred to every single time to understand the steps.
The second iteration breaks up the basic steps into major tasks, which enables the user to easily recollect the steps without much effort. It makes use of color coding and time frames required for each task, thereby increasing the utility of the poster
