CONCEPT
Important factor was to integrate people while they are absorbing the cultural knowledge. So there are areas where they can spend time together watching a film (small auditorium or a rooftop in the summer) or listen to the music from vinyl adapters (3rd floor). The free relax areas on each floor containing some bean bag seats also create social interractions atmosphere.

The idea was to create the modern library, a space for storing the contemporary culture heritage: anything that is called media. The building is placed in the centre of the city so more people can access the world of culture.
Every floor is designed for another function of storage and has its own general domain: audiobooks, movies, music etc.
On the rooftop there is a caffe's garden and space designed for a summer movie projections.

Building is an infill construction, closing the frontage of a relevant urban corner.

Elevation
The building is designed as a contrast to the existing architecture. It's placed between the modern 60's maisonette housing architecture (on the right) ant the old XIXth century building. The ground floor height, as well as the elevations' front line is kept the same dimensions - as a continuation of an existing modern building.
The effect of crushing walls into two pieces is a design solution answering the problem of the close street placement crossing with the geometrical urban corner lines extension. According to the law, the hanging part of a building has to remain in a 6m distance from the street level. Dark grey colour was chosen to create a background to the context, but in the same time to be a strong, different accent in the surrounding urban space.
The daylight is let inside by the narrow elevation cuts, composed into a linear, unplanned, asymetrically angled composition. It's the metaphore of peoples' personal, unpredictable actions and emotions during the cultural experience. The unusual lighting effects inside brighten this kind of public space strong enough, keeping the visitor focused - without the unnecessary outside views distraction. In the evening, narrow beams of light get outside the building - attracting pedestrians to enter and explore the world of media.

Starting from the 3rd level, a green atrium appears to provide an additional impression - visual to experience and explore music using more senses. On the lower, open part - 3rd level - the user can learn, integrate with other visitors and check the current events or - on the upper open/half floor - stay completely focused. The atrium allows more light to the interior space and insures the users connection with the greenery.

Southern elevation
Keeping the relationship with the context, horizontal lines visible on existing old building are repeated on the designed elevation. Heights of the front elevation walls of both buildings are kept the same in the meeting point.
Vertical character is transported to the contemporary language.
