Tasked with creating a public space for a city that lacked interest in community engagement, I declined. Instead, I focused on creating an amenity for the existing community of recreational and small commercial fisherman. The focus became the poetics of the solitary pre-dawn launch and the beauty of the routine but also with an attempt to integrate unrequested granduer and atemporality or timelessness. It is a park that is meant to be remembered more than experienced and anyone who grew up innocently playing on the classical bandstands and gazebos of city park will understand the emotions I am trying to embed in the project.
