Mootik is an Italian-Finnish start-up. With the help of gyrometer technology, the Mootik watch can measure rotation, height and depth, in addition to the standard parameters of traditional sports watches, such as pulse, distance etc. This makes the watch particularly relevant for the action sports category. The watch is specially developed to measure movement with real-time response that allows the user to analyse movement while out in the field of action.
 
The watch is targeted at sports and activities where the desire to perfect motion is central. This contrasts with more traditional endurance-oriented sports watches that measure distance with the help of GPS location technology.
 
The ability of the watch to track all types of movement makes it relevant for a variety of sports and activities. However, it was important that the Mootik identity was not purely or particularly targeted at any of these, to avoid excluding the others. 
 
Concept, idea & strategy
“Motion” is the underlying idea behind the design of elements of the profile. The graphic elements are rooted in the design of the logo - and vice versa. The graphic elements illustrate typical patterns of movement: a jump, a twist, curves, etc. The lines create a feeling of repetition in pursuit of the perfect motion.
 
The sharp blue and green colours, contrasting with the black, create energy and reinforce the feeling of motion. A simple and easily recognizable colour palette that works equally well for winter and summer activities.
 
The way fonts are used helps to underline the feeling of motion and energy. The imagery consists of a sequence of pictures that shows patterns of motion that the watch is tracking. This is also developed into a set of icons that builds on the design language of the logo and the graphic elements.

This project was developed at Creuna Norway. The profile was never finished and the project did not see the light of day because the Start-up could not launch their product.
