Problem: Tobacco usage has been a major problem in the US for decades. By the 1990s, advertising had been severely restricted, and sales began declining. Throughout the past five years, e-cigarettes have replaced cigarettes for the millennial generation. The same unrestricted advertising environment that existed in the 1960s has been recreated today for these nicotine-based devices
Restrictions: Create an interactive digital publication article addressing a social issue.
Execution: The tobacco industry has been acting as a wolf in sheep skin, marketing e-cigarettes as a healthy alternative. This inspired me to capture the feeling of the 1960s, to begin connecting the similarities of e-cigarettes sold today with tobacco sales strategies of the 1960s. Illustrations compare advertisements from then and now.
