Concept Work: Orbital Pavillion

The Orbital Pavilion is an interactive shelter where a group of people can congregate in and enjoy the fluid 3D rotating motion together. It is designed to promote social interaction amongst users as the pavilion requires teamwork for it to rotate. How it works is that the group of users can sit or lie in a circle and take turns to shift  their bodyweight to create an orbiting momentum. It shall be placed at the Sports and Recreation Centre where friends can take a rest a er exercising. This location is ideal to our concept of promoting interaction and team-bonding as it is likely that sportsmen will have fun together while relaxing in the pavilion. It is also good for freshmen to bond together as the SRC is a commonly used place for orientation activities. At night, the Orbital Pavilion will emit a soothing blue glow from the top and this light is powered by the solar panels at the top of the dome. Users can enjoy viewing the mesmerizing light display while seated or lying in the dome. The Orbital Pavilion is sure to be a hotspot amongst students and faculties to gather for its unique user experience.
