Miyazaki's Tales

Hayao Miyazaki is a masterful Japanese illustrator and anime director. His films inspired me to create a collection of book covers, which I named as Miyazaki's Tales. All illustrations below are propriety of Studio Ghibli. This project is just a tribute, no commercial intents.
Miyazaki's stories are known for having strong, brave girls that don't think twice about fighting for what they believe. He once said "they'll need a friend, or a supporter, but never a savior. Any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man."
I chose three of my favorite movies to illustrate the book covers. Breathtaking adventures, stunning sceneries and precious characters. Each one is a truly masterpiece.
"During her family's move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and spirits, and where humans are changed into beasts."
― IMDb
"An adventure about a five-year-old boy and his relationship with Ponyo, a goldfish princess who longs to become a human after falling in love with him."
― IMDb
"When an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle."
― IMDb
These book covers were created to exercise what I've learned in my Graphic Design classes (DSG1142). This project was focused on image and typography manipulation.
