Brief:
We were required to engage with the subjects of surface, colour, light, texture and materiality and how these subjects can generate spatial identity. Hence the project required us to identify with our clients ethos, values, and business identity. It was our task to express these values through materials, surfaces, textures, lighting, and colour.
The intention was not to restore the church to its former condition, but to repair it as a managed ruin with a roof enabling it to be used as an unstaffed visitor interpretation hub.
